Private varsities experiencing influx of public school students

Vice Chancellor of Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, Kwara State, Prof. Noah Yusuf, has said private institutions now have more transfer of students from public universities as a result of incessant strike by workers of public schools.

Yusuf while speaking with journalists in Ilorin shortly after the matriculation of 1,005 students admitted into Al-Hikmah University for the 2020/2021 academic session said the institution, since its establishment had never been closed down due to workers strike.

“In fact, the constant strikes usually embarked on by various unions in the public universities have been a blessing to the private universities because we have more transfer of students from the public universities to private universities. We gained more transfer this year from public universities to Al-Hikmah University.”

Yusuf who said the University had maintaining it, academic session stated  it was able to complete its 2019/2020 academic session as scheduled by embarking on virtual lectures for its students during the COVID-19 lockdown.
