Nigeria Info to support education development through competitions

The radio station, Nigeria Info, has announced the start of its second edition of the ‘I Beg To Differ’ Student Debate Tournament. The initiative is to contribute to the sector’s growth through promotion of developmental programmes, aimed at equipping Nigerian youths with the required skills to develop sustainable innovative solutions.

The competition, which is Nigeria’s only radio debate tournament for teens, is scheduled to commence this month. It will afford secondary school students across Lagos State between 13 and 17 years, the opportunity to develop the psychological abilities required to engage in intellectually stimulating conversations on complex socio-economic and political issues affecting the nation’s corporate existence.

Speaking on the launch of the second edition of the competition, Chief Executive Officer of Cool FM, Wazobia FM and Nigeria Info, Serge Noujaim, said the tournament seeks to create a platform for Nigerian youths to develop their public-speaking skills, while also exercising their creativity through the English Language.

“We, as a brand, understand the crucial need to create an enabling platform that encourages Nigerian youths, particularly those in secondary schools, to develop their ability to communicate effectively.”

This is because we believe that the competition will help a large number of Nigerian youths to develop their creativity, using the English Language as well as a means to improve their abilities to own constructive views on complex issues of national and global concern,” he said.

General Manager, Corporate Affairs for Cool FM, Wazobia FM, and Nigeria Info, Femi Obong-Daniels, said the station is at the forefront of championing diverse initiatives that seek to enhance youth development across the nation.

The tournament is one of the diverse youth-led initiatives of Nigeria Info, that strives to the developmental capacity of Nigerian students through the promotion of healthy debate competitions.
