An organisation chaired by Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (retd), Victims Support Fund, has said it will donate COVID-19 preventive items to 54 secondary schools in 18 states.
The items tagged, ‘WASH donation,’ by the organisation would cost more than N200 million.
The Chairperson, COVID-19 Task Force of VSF, Toyosi Akerele-Ogunsiji, made the disclosure at Baptist Grammar School, Ikire, Osun State at the inauguration of one of the three solar-powered boreholes donated to public schools in the state by the Victims Support Fund.
She said apart from Baptist Grammar School, Ikire that was given a borehole, hand washing cubicles and other COVID-19 items, two other schools in the state, Ansar-U-Deen Grammar, Ile-Ife and Okoye Kola Grammar School, Ijabe were also given solar-powered borehole.
She said, “54 secondary schools in 18 states across the six geo-political zones of the country will benefit from the WASH donation by VSF. This will cost the organisation more than N200m.
“We commenced the VSF COVID-19 intervention in Abuja on April 14, 2020, on the instruction of Gen. Danjuma (retd), who said we should go round the country to provide food, Personal Protection Equipment, medical items, testing kits, among others to contain COVID-19.”
