Educationist deplores cheating, exam malpractice in schools

She also frowned at the role of some parents in the menace, describing it as worrisome. While speaking with The Guardian in her office, the educationist said the scourge of cheating has also eaten deep into the public sector, as she recalled what she went through to register her school.

“When I was growing up, there was cheating but the rate at which it is going now, some parents pay special fees to aid their children’s performance. Even examiners don’t want to come because I won’t give extra money. Why should all of these continue?

Olubunmi cautioned teachers and parents supporting cheating and bribery to desist from the act, saying the future of the country stands at risk if continuously embraced.

She encouraged boarding schools across the country to embrace zero-tolerance for bullying.
“As a school, we have anti-bullying policy and we are very strict on that,” she said.
