Anambra Moves Schools Resumption To January 26

With the increasing number of coronavirus cases, the Anambra State government has shifted the resumption of schools to January 26.

Recall that students in the State were earlier scheduled to resume on the 18th of January.

However, on Tuesday, Governor Willie Obiano announced the new date in Awka during a broadcast on the second wave of COVID-19.

Obiano said: “Schools in Anambra shall not re-open on January 18, 2021, as earlier scheduled. Rather, schools will re-open after two weeks from today to enable the principals and teachers to prepare for the return of our children.”

In the same broadcast, Obiano also threatened to shut down markets if they are found violating COVID-19 protocols after one week.

“For the sake of emphasis, nobody should go to any market, public places, churches, schools, enter any transport, attend functions as stated above without properly wearing of facemasks.”
